When my husband and I decided to visit the Cleveland Botanical Garden, we expected a quick walk through a greenhouse and maybe a stroll through a small park with nice trees.
We were very, very wrong.
The “greenhouse” is an award-winning, state-of-the-art, 17,000 square foot glass conservatory with animals and planets from two continents. The “park” is 10 acres of gardens, meticulously designed to transport you to other worlds. Our visit was far more than we expected.
The Madagascar and Costa Rica glass houses were stunning. The Japanese Garden had unbelievable detail. The Woodland Garden felt like an actual walk through the forest. The Children’s Garden made us feel like big kids. I’ll try not to go on and on here so I’ll just tell you, after my husband and I wandered the grounds for hours we still felt like there was much more to see. We will be going back, and we recommend you check it out if you have the chance.
The Cleveland Botanical Garden is easy to get to, especially if you live within an hour’s drive. The garden is located in Cleveland’s University Circle. From our home in Lorain County we drove for about 35 minutes before pulling right into the parking garage under the entryway. A quick elevator ride and we were suddenly strolling through towering plants from Madagascar. I’ll leave links below for directions and more information.
Here’s a few scenes we snapped with our phones during our visit. Enjoy.

There’s tons of things to do and see throughout the year. Check out their website to learn more. Tickets for non-members are $19.00 for an adult or $13.00 for children. We say it’s a reasonable price for all-day entertainment.
The Cleveland Botanical Garden and Holden Arboretum make up the Holden Forests and Gardens. We are hoping to check out the arboretum, near Kirtland, soon.
Thanks for reading.
